Check In / Check Out
Check in is from 3.30 p.m until 9 p.m Monday to Friday, and from 12 p.m (Noon) until 9 p.m Saturdays and Sundays.
Early Check In’s are mostly not possible due to rooms not being ready, but we can arrange for you to leave your bags if you contact us in advance via email or phone call.
Late Check In can be arranged if you have already paid for your room in advance. We can leave you the keypad code to get in and your key will be left out for you to collect. email us or call us between 4 p.m and 9 p.m any day on 01291 622189 to arrange this.
Payment for your stay needs to be paid for in full before you arrive or at Check In. Please note, that if you have given your card details to a third party booking website like booking.com, it doesn’t always mean you have paid in advance, we can check this for you on arrival.
Check Out is at 10 a.m on the day of your departure, unfortunately we won’t be able to arrange a LATE CHECK OUT for you.
We have No Curfew, so your keys will give you access to the building and your room for your entire stay.
Please leave your room key on the Bar side in the basket on your departure. Any keys forgotten to be left must be posted back to us straight away please, or a £22 fee will need to be paid to cover cutting new ones and administration.
Breakfast
A Complimentary Continental Breakfast Buffet is served daily from 8 a.m till 9 a.m Monday to Friday, and from 8 a.m till 9.30 a.m on a Saturday and Sunday.
Breakfast includes Toast, Butter, Jam, Marmalade and Honey, A selection of Breakfast Cereals, Muesli and Granola. Greek Yoghurt, Fresh Fruit, Nuts, Fruit Juice, Tea and Coffee.
Gluten Free Bread and Dairy Free Milk is available on request.
Parking
The First Hurdle Guest House doesn’t have a private Car Park but there is a Public Car Park directly opposite us (Nelson Street Car Park.)
The Nelson Street Car Park is Free Overnight from 6 p.m until 8 a.m and is Free All Day Sunday. It has a Maximum No return Stay of 4 Hours at other times. However, if you need to leave your car parked for longer during the daytime, you can use either the Castle Car Park or The Drill Hall Car Park. These allow All Day Parking and is a 5 minute walk from the Guest House. If you do want to park your car there you can pull up outside the Guest House to drop your luggage and then go and park making the transition more comfortable.
All the Car Parks at the day of writing cost £2.80 for a 4hr stay and £5.60 for 24hrs. 5 Day Parking at the Castle Car Park costs £21.

Our Award Winning Restaurant & Bar
We are fortunate enough to have a Multi National Award Winning Pizzeria at the Guest House called Stone Rock Pizza. It has been voted Best in Wales and UK Gold Award Winner.
The Pizzeria Kitchen is open for Dinner from 4 p.m until 9 p.m Monday to Thursday, from 4 p.m until 9.30 p.m Friday and All day from Noon until 9.30 p.m Saturday and Sunday.

Race Days, Concerts & Other Big Events
Chepstow has it’s own Race Course and one of the oldest Norman Castles in the country which hosts regular events and concerts. Chepstow Castle is extremely close to The First Hurdle being just a 5 minute walk away.
Chepstow Race Course however is 1 mile away, many of our guests do walk to and from it on race days, but be warned the walk back is far easier as it’s all down hill. The walk up to it is a bit of a hike so you may want to book a taxi.

Taxis
An up to date list of Taxi numbers can be found in your room but if you are coming to a big event in Chepstow and will need a Taxi to get to and from it, it is advisable to call and book in advance of your stay as they get booked up quickly. Please google the latest list of taxi numbers as they often change.
