Stone Rock Pizza
We’re a family-run guest house located in the heart of Chepstow at the foot of the main shopping and restaurant street and a short walk from the town’s famous Norman Castle and picturesque River Wye.
The First Hurdle Guest House is now completely refurbished and updated to the standards of a modern boutique hotel. It has 12 on-suite letting rooms, a breakfast room, a warm and cosy snug/lounge and a lovely communal garden patio. The property is comprised of two former 18th century town houses in Upper Church Street, Chepstow, but has been run as a guest house for more than 30 years. Local resident Jane Cooper has been the house’s custodian for 14 of those years and is now joined by her son Scott in making the enterprise a truly family affair.
We hope you book with us and look forward to welcoming you to The First Hurdle.
We absolutely love Pizza, who doesn’t? But there is something very different about real Neapolitan pizza, the kind that is produced with high quality ingredients, using traditional dough making methods and fired at high temperatures in a clay oven. We spent 18 months researching, sourcing the right ingredients and learning about exactly what it takes to make a pizza of this quality. I’m now a certified pizza chef but to provide even more authenticity we’ve recruited a top Pizzaiolo in Pasquale Mangiacotti who has based himself here in Chepstow and helped us perfect our sourdough.
